Recipes for Pets - Did You Know?

It's not just us humans that benefit from essential oils. You can use them on pets too but with care and caution. Do not just guess or apply them to your pets. Research and speak to your veterinarian.

If you're wondering, the answer is yes, Tea Tree can be toxic to your pets but in it's pure, undiluted form. Tea tree is actually very beneficial in soothing skin inflammation, itching and irritation caused by bacterial, viral or fungal infections.

Be sure to use in a diluted form and never used around the pets eyes or internally. As an alternative to tea tree, Niaouli (Melaleuca quinquenervia) is a gentler and safer option providing antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and is non-toxic, non-irritant and non-sensitizing.

Please DO NOT use on cats without speaking to your veterinarian as cats lack the liver enzyme necessary to break down certain properties in the essential oils which can result in poisoning or fatality.
